Pond or fountain
Pond or fountain, even a a water-feature what is the
difference and which should you have?
Which you have is your choice. Usually water features
are safer when there are small children around. The pictures below are
examples of the different options.
Water features
Water features have water coming from an object and
follow the water down the faces of the object. Often (best for children)
the reservoir is covered by a decorative material so you can not see the
water other than that which is running down the faces
Pond
A pond is an area of "open" water that has animal life
(usually fish) and plants. If it is a "wildlife pond" chances are it will
have no fish, but plants and wildlife (frogs, toads, newts etc)
Some pond owners will add
filtration and the "return" of the filter is a waterfall. Others will
use a larger pump that supplies a fountain jet or better still have a
separate pump for a fountain jet.
Fountain
A fountain is not a pond or a water feature. Unlike a
pond a fountain has no livestock or plants, and unlike a water feature the
water has no surface to run down, the water is pumped to a nozzle which is
at the water surface.
